Why does my sample turn milky?

The titrant for chloride is most often silver nitrate. The silver complexes with the chloride in the sample and form insoluble silver chloride. The silver chloride precipitates out of solution making the sample appear milky. The sample turning milky is supposed to happen. Continue to titrate until the sample turns red at the endpoint.
